Well I was torqing (sp) a runner to plenum bolt. 18lbs and it just starts spinning so thats another damn problem. If I had a FULL 2 days the car COULD be done. I took alot of pics from the block and up.

AAHHH, the joys of working on all this mechanical wizardry...

I wonder if you forgot to properly appease the automotive gods with the proper sacrifice before you embarked on your days events... As a friend of mine says, you should always start an automotive project by opening the hood and raking your knuckles across the radiator to "get it over with".

I take it the next step will be fitting the aluminum with the proper helicoil.

Hope the rest of the resto goes better than tonight...

Oh, by the way, just in case anyone is keeping score... The topic here just evoked another thought for the thread here.

CARS, BAD! MAN, ANGRY!

My wife's Ranger was overheating last weekend, so I replaced the thermostat and upper radiator hose Sunday night - no problem, everything went relatively well and the problem is fixed.

Of course I just spent about $450 in a completely new front end for the thing after realizing all parts were shot while doing the brakes. Then I spent about $300 bucks on some new front rubber and an alignment to get me through the winter. Then there were the O2 sensors (yes there are TWO of them) that needed to be replaced - another $90.

Tonight while attempting to get to the NEOCC meeting in Kent, the exhaust decides to go kablooy!. Turns out everything is rotted, so it would be best to do everthing from the Y-pipe to the back. Well, Ford puts DOUBLE catalytics on these babies... $209 for the set. All total, I'll need another $300 to $350 just in parts plus another afternoon of labor to get her back on the road.

I should have just ripped this sucker down to the bones when she bought it and rebuilt it... it would have been more enjoyable!
