Whoa, it sure seems like it's been awhile since we all met up, I guess winter really puts a damper on things, hopefully all is well with everyone...
Thanks to Dave, we have this sweet forum, but so far I haven't seen much traffic from anyone else (myself included, although I do check in several times a day). We definitely need to get the communication rolling here...
It looks like we have at least a couple new members to the group (GK, Big Dogg and MrIROCZ), whom I've yet to meet, but am lookin forward to it at the next meetup, so welcome to those guys!!
Couple of things to consider as we grow and in advance of better weather:
#1 I think a few questions have come up about us being an IROCZ-ONLY group, or if other 3rd Gen cars can join? I dunno if I have feelings 1 way or another...as I have seen some pretty sweet looking 91-92 Z28s and RSs...and we'd have to change the name of the club too, what do you all think?
#2 There has been some discussion on meeting more than once a month. I am totally for this, and I'd propose meeting every other Sunday (weather permitting) would be cool, but again, we need some opinions on that.
Again, I'm still alive and kickin here, hope to hear from all of you pretty soon. 'Roc On
DAVE: Seen the pictures of your car on the site, you've done a hell of a job restoring that car! It's lookin more badass everytime I see it
I've done a few things to my car aswell that I'll show off next meeting, and YES, I've got new IROC wheels on order and should be on the car within a week or so. I see you switched from the gold IROC wheels to silver. What'd you do with the gold rims?

Hey Luke,
It seems like this time of year it is hard to get anything going especially with unpredictable weather. It appears that not everyone in enthused as us about our cars. Maybe it's just the recent excitment about becoming an owner of one of these fine machines.
As far as IROC only, I'm open to anyone that wants to join no matter what they have. If they feel like being a part of a group that goes out shares their knowledge about any type of car, we should welcome that. I know we originally all met on the IROC-Z board and thats why we only have IROC owners in our group currently.
So lets start recruiting new members and hope for better weather in the mean time. I would guess we would have more interest as the weather starts getting better.
As far as meeting dates, times and places. Its really pretty open. If any one wants to set up a meeting at a particlular time or location that is more convenient for them, then they should start one. Hopefully other people will jump in on it. We have a list of people interested and their E-mails we can quickly notify everyone.
Some ideas I have for the coming year,
cruises to different car shows and swap meets,
Maybe a mini show and shine at Kragan's in Castro Valley Parking lot. like on a Saturday for 2 hours or so.
cruises to a picnic or barbecue at a local park,
I like going to Salvage yards and looking at the 3rd gens. sometimes find a little piece that you've been missing. ( that's where I found my fog lights 4.95 each, believe it or not),
Once Sears Point opens up we can take a trip over there and check it out.
Even meeting at a movie theater and catching a flick,
Maybe GK can send me a list of Bay Area Members that are registered on this Board.
Oh, by the way, the rims I have now were the gold ones, I just stripped the gold paint and polished up the aluminum. Thanks for the commments.
Anyone else that would like to be part of our group send me an E-mail or post on this topic.
Thanks,
Dave

I really think it's the weather slowing things down, but we'll get through it, and things will pick up, I'm sure...
I think we should open the group up to other 3rd Gens: IROCs, Trans Ams, Z28s, RSs etc...that would be cool. We'd grow alot faster that way... I suppose we'd have to rename the group though, like "Northern California 3rd Gens" or something along those lines...
You have some good ideas on events: Meetups, Cruises etc... sounds good to me, we can work on those, I'll keep in touch with you.

Hey guys, i'm for doing stuff. I'm in Walnut Creek... I'm sorry i missed those meetings at In 'n Out, but those weekends something came up... my e-mail address is starnett@bigfoot.com, let me know when the next meetings will be. I think the more than once a month thing is cool, but i don't think i have that much time, but I could probably make one a month.

I'd gladly do some of that cruising soon. Weather now ain't good however for driving a vert. However. I've got a question for jokeplayer. You own that red camaro with the really obvious subs in the back seat (Hint, they look really easy to steal, I suggest you do something!) and the radar detector? I think I know you!

Ahhhh, I swear, something comes up everytime I try to make it to one of the meetings. Today I got stuck in Berkley at a family thing until 5ish and didn't get home until 5:45... Could I propose a meeting on saturday? Sats are open for me. Maybe around 2:30 at In 'n Out... lets hear some feedback.

Well, like I said, rain or shine, I would be there and I was. But I guess I was the only one to drive my happy-ass there today. As my girl & I sat and ate, I never seen even one Camaro, let alone and IROC pull into the parking lot.
I do hope that turnouts will be much better than this in the future.

Dave, my girl and I will be willing to make the cruise to Watsonville on the 5th. It will be her birthday. Email me and I will give you my cell number so that we can establish a better means of communication.
I have been in Car Clubs before, and would like to help get this one going in any way I can.
I'm serious about enjoying my IROC and going for cruises etc: So if your serious like I think you are, contact me.

Big Dogg

Big Dogg-
The last successful meeting the group had was back in October, the winter months just aren't good for meet-ups... with all this unpredictable weather etc...

I myself haven't even attempted to take my IROC out in the last 2 months, let alone planning on attending a meet-up. I am sorry though that you went to In N Out, just to be the only one who showed up... that's not fun...

The problem is, when winter hits the meetings become sporadic because of weather (ie last minute cancellations because of rain)...

In the spring and summer season, it's alot easier because weather isn't a factor, so more drivers come out to play, and meetings become routine every 2 weeks like clock work. This along with cruises and I'm personally hoping to organize a group trip to Sears Point Raceway in May.

We'll really have to get organized when the dry weather comes around...

-ONE2FLY

Well thanks for the heads up. I guess i'll just have to see how things are when the weather clears up. But as for me ... everytime the sun shines, I wash my car, snatch the T-tops off and cruise !!... thats what I bought it for ... not to sit in the garage.......
