My dads a cop, has a black 2001 Crown Vic. No light bar on the top, all the blue lights are hidden :)... It was dark and we were comeing back from picking my grandma up from the hospital(bad heart) :(... Well, we were in the fast lane going about 80 and a white 4thgen T/A FLYS by us like were sitting still  all i hear is WHOOM, and saw t/a tail lights, couldnt even get the plate, he was doing at least 120 and still flooring it, by the time we got on it and turned on the lights and siren, he was wayyyyyy ahead, we got to 135 and he was still pulling. We lost him around the curves on the freeway.... Then after about 5 miles we see what looks like t/a tail lights turning off the freeway off the exit, we burn up the brake screeching the tires, miss the exit and cut through grass slideing sideways to make the exit :D dust all over the place :D, the t/a runs the stop sign & takes a left and that was the last time we saw him. He musta took a side street and hid. We remembered my grandma w/ a bad heart was in the back seat, we looked to make sure she didnt have a heart attack and took her home asap.... (shes so old, she cant see or hear and she actually had no idea we were in a high speed chase until we told her :)) Well, i bet i can find out who it is, especilly if he hangs around with any car clubs. i just want to check out his car, im not intrested in ratting him out or anything. its to late for anyone to bust him becaus he got away and we dont have a tag#, so you know.... he got lucky this time. ;) Im waiting to see his/her post about it on a message forum somewhere....

I thought this post would involve you and a goat or sheep :D
I can see the news now: off duty officer recklessly instigates car chase while his mother dies in the back seat. WTF is the law on an officer engauging in pursuit with his family in the car??? Nevermind now I see where you get it from.

Damn no offence but if your story is true then your dad needs his ass kicked. First off , he was off duty Correct? Secondly He had you and your granny in the car and he was speeding , so what happens if he gets into an accident? Or the guy pulls over and hops out with an AK? Thank god that only on duty police officers in marked units can instigate traffic stops and write tickets in LA county.
One more thing , if I saw someone without a uniform exit an unmarked car with an old lady and another civilian in it and walk towards me after putting on the dash lights I would run his ass over on the assumption that they are trying to jack me. There is a reason they issue uniforms and marked cars.

What? Is a cop not suppose to chase someone that dosent stop for blue lights?
if people knew cops wouldnt chase you if you ran, everyone would run and end up killing someone or themselves... you know that. cops write tickets to prevent people from speeding and put them in jail for failing to stop.

My pops is on call 24/7, becaus he's on duty... Everythings taken care of ;) A cop can pull you on or off duty dosent matter.

yes and no, he always makes traffic stops. he isnt like a uniformed police officer. He's over the State Police SWAT Team. he wont pull people for like speeding, but if their driving like say 100/65 thats considered wreckless driving and he can pull them then, then call a trooper to come write them a ticket. Or if someone is driving drunk, he can oull them over and call a trooper to come give them a ticket. If its something dangerous he will pull them, but say for something minor he wont waste his time.
The laws are a little different SC then they are in LA, that 'only a uniformed officer' can pull someone sounds crazy to me. if he was in a wreck and something happend to the passangers, i dont know what will happen, but like i mentioned in my other post, he is on call 24/7 and permitted to have people in his car at all times even running lights and siren. He does it all the time with me int he car... They dont usually run though, this was the 1st time with me int he car they actually ran.
'one more thing', i doubt your dumb enough to pull that sh1t, i dont know if you said it to be 'tuff' or 'cool' or whatever. But it would land you in jail for a good ummm, 'rest of your life' ;)....

Whatever man, if some cop no matter if on duty or not pulled the BS you are talking about he is a major hazzard for the police force. What would happen if he was to crash and you and your GM got hurt? Would you sue the police department or your father for your injuries? What you posted about if true is totally careless and uncalled for yet you want to make it out to be cool.

I see what your saying. But anytime theirs a high speed chase something bad could happen and the cop can make mistakes. If he were to wreck, ill be honest i dont know what will happen, but he wouldnt have chased the car if it was wrong. He's been a cop 34 years, he knows what time it is ;). This car was driving 'wreckless' and needed to be pulled, we assumed he was going to pull over but he didnt so we 'chased' him. If he was doing some minor offense we wouldnt have bothered with him. This dude blew by us doing at least 120, then when we hit 140ish and topped out, and the t/a was still pulling  Thats not something you can easily let slide... its a very argueable situation... ;) Im just telling you guys what happend becaus it was my 1st 'real' car chase and i was pumped until you guys tryed to slam me :)

I see your point on how the guy was really wrong but why do they have radios in the cars? (Maybe there wasn't any other officers in the area) From now on when riding with your dad make sure to bring your helmet and fire suit.

Nope , not in LA. There are enough people impersonating cops and robbing people that I wouldnt even be charged with it. Like I said any cop initiating a traffic stop has to be uniformed and in a marked car.

no offense here but driving THAT FAST with "civilians" (even worse HIS mother and HIS son) in the car is just plain stupid. i question if his department is going to back him up when he crashes and sends everyone either to the hospital or morgue all over a stupid speeding ticket. maybe he was "overcome" with adrenalin or something but once he saw the car wasnt going to stop he should have backed off and put out a point of information

How in the hell do you communicate with someone that can't see or hear?

I would never put my ailing grandmother in that position. Where are your fathers priorities?
It's only a job. Someone needs to be a real man and ditch the ego.

She can see and hear but just not all up to speed. Plus she was kinda doped up on top of that so she didnt know what was going on. :) We just took her home and went back out looking for more action :) We did remember she was back their but it was to late in the chase.
evilt/a... I heard about that in other states, where only uniformed officers will pull people. I was rideing with a "County Officer" one day and we pulled a car from up north somewhere. When the officer went up to the car the man 'went off' on how he couldnt give him a ticket becaus he was a county cop not a trooper, blah blah, but in south carolina as long as your in that cops jurisdiction and they have blue lights you can get pulled and charged.... Im actually glad SC inst like that becaus i want to be with the same dept my dad is on in about 5 years and still do a little more traffic 'policeing' from time to time.

I asked my dad about chaseing down with family/friends in the car, policy is he can continue in the chase until other cops arrive then he would have to back off once other units do get in.. We called the chase in on the radio but this guy was GONE! and we never saw the other cops :) Im way glad it was so fast becaus now i know what my car can do :D LS1s are freaking rockets at those speeds, i told my dad if the guy ran we wouldnt be able to hang.. and we 'didnt' hang :D After we got home, my dad was asking ne to take my car out :D i vranked it up for him and he sit in it and was like  COOL!

Sorry, but he should be fired for that. An extreme lack of judgement on his part IMHO. The benifit to society of stopping the reckless driver was minuscule compared to
the danger he placed you, his mother and himself in.

You guys should all know this is BS! Kamaro is a compulsive liar.. Hes liek the 15 year old kid that makes up stories at school to try and get people to think he is cool. I doubt a real officer, off duty with his son and mother in the car would do such a thing, especially since his mother has heart conditions. I think Kamaro is just making it up, like usual. If the police force found out that thier SWAT team leader or whatever he said his dad is was doing stuff like that, Im sure they would discharge him. This isnt the first time Kamaro has posted about his "Cop dad" doing something like this off duty, etc..

Kind of reminds me of the Adam Sandler movie "Billy Madison" when the O'Doyles, a family of stupid inbred rednecks, drive off a cliff in their station wagon and wipe out the whole lot of them in one gene-pool-cleansing sweep. :)

DAMN,im gonna have to agree, there is something not right about a "cop"? who would conduct a high speed pursuit with his son and mother /mother in law in the car.Especially if the old women has a heart condition and is on the way back from the hospital!! Wellyou are deffinatly a chip off the old block !!!!!

Here an unmarked car with an ununiformed Officer can initiate a stop.
A Peace Officer in the State of Utah is a Peace Officer 24/7/365.
If the violator runs they can initiate a High Speed Persuit but must relinquish primary persuit vehicle position when a marked unit joins in the persuit by falling back, turning off all lights/siren and follow obeying all traffic laws.
The Officer shall not initiate a persuit with any persons in the vehicle who aren't certified Peace Officers.
An Officer 'can' intiate a stop with non-certified persons in the vehicle, but I don't know a single road Officer who would want the image of thier daddy being cut down by a bad guy with a gun permanently etched into thier minds.
BTW it's 'Reckless' not 'Wreckless'. Reckless is a mental state which must be proven in court showing blatent disreguard for others safety.
Wreckless means to drive without being in a wreck.
