-Mustangs were alright in the 80s now their hondas with 2 extra cylinders.
-No Ttops.
-The Autos are about as fast as a honda, and why buy a 5speed and Fbodys have 6speeds.

3) looks like an ass box on wheels
4) NO LEGROOM
5) don't come with T-Tops
6) biggest motor in the 3rdgen was the 5.0
7) once again 3rgen rustangs looked like squared off rolling ass.

Throw #6 out, 5.0/5peed Mustangs kicked the living shit out of anything that came in a 3rdgen F-Body. 302 or not, they kicked L98's asses.

L69 was the greatest 305 ever to be put in a 3rdgen... I've seen them consistantly hand 5.0 stangs their asses in stock form...
LG4 and LO3 however... heh 5.0's would kill em...
Don't believe everything you read about the L69's in the 83's and 84's... they were anything but dogs... :D T5/3.73's in 99% of em... they had more than the advertised horsepower (over 220 I know that much, heh)
L69 camaro's were the fasted GM cars produced in 1983 :)

Mabey i just had a kick ass motor that was built really good becaus that wasent the case with my old L98.

Mustangs only have 1-2-D thats even goes for 1980s mustangs becaus i drove a friends 1990 5.0 last night and my L98 woulda smoke it (and the ls1 would kill it)...

Again, I love this place! Any 89-94 GT or LX 5 speed car stock for stock in equal condition would hand a 3rd genCamaro it's ass. Especially once the Stang got up in 3rd gear, see ya later. Maybe most here were in grade school in 87-92 when GM made such a big deal out of the L98 F-bodies and how almost every mag that tested the car stated it would take more then the choked up 350 to beat a Mustang. LT1's made it into F-bodies for a reason, it was the first time they gave the F-body the complete package over Ford's product in years. Before 93 the last time they were close was with the L69 5 speed car and those were just barely in the same ballpark as the Stang also.

I dunno what magazines you read but go over to thirdgen.org and look at the magazine articles there. They all say the camaro is a tad faster. It was always a close race though. Until GM brought out the LS1.

Wardo the L69's (atleast the 83's) surpassed anything ford could throw at it at the time ... GM made those fuckers great that year because the vette was absent from production :D

I guess I havent really beat all the stock 5.0s I've raced....I guess it was just a dream right... :rolleyes:
And....I've even beat a '90 LX NOTCHBACK (yes the infmaous notchback) 5.0 5 speed. it was all stock except headers i believe. and i took it just barely, both times we raced. and this was with a REAL good driver powershifting the fuck out of the car.
So dont tell me that 5.0's will hand a L98 its ass when it simply isnt true.

I'll run my Chevy 5.0 L69 against any F*rd 5.slow and win about 90% of the time (considering neither engine is using a power adder).

Sorry, that 302 doesn't hang with a SD L98. It makes a pretty damn good run, especially since its missing 48 ci, but they do NOT win. And they certainly do not hand me my ass.

Whatever.........I got a guy here telling me his car runs 14.70's and takes out stock 5 liter Stang's all the time. The biggest problem with the F-Body people is that they all think these cars are the shit when really they are not. Do you realy think TGO is going to post articles that have bad shit to say about the F-Body? Do you really think the mags that did give the car rave revues weren't on the take with GM since every teenage kid in America knows/thinks that Mustangs were bad ass and Camaros were always a step behind? Take a look at GM HP and that article they did on the Black 91/92 Z. They even stated (off the top of my head, not a direct quote) Style, handling and lack of power, every backwards hat wearing teen in a 5.0 knew he could smoke this car from light to light. Even the Mustang mags give props to GM for the LT1 cars and even went as far to say it would take every bolt on imaginable for a Stang to run with a stock LS1. But......you people are still suck on the almighty L-98 as being a world beater and it is not, wont admit it fell short of Mustang performance in those years.
BTW I happen to own an L98 Camaro and I'm in touch with reality and the real world, I know it will take an aftermarket intake, runners and ported plenum to make a L98 live up to even half the motor everyone makes it out to be.

Forgot, I'm not a troll, I expect to get shit from people about my comments but it's what I feel are facts. I would get the same shit if I went to a Mustang board and stated that my TBI 305 RS could kick the shit out of any 5.0 Stang also.
Artic those "custom mounted" driving lights are something I would expect to see on a ricer, they are terrible in my opinion. I also believe that from looking at your car it is a well kept car from it's original owner all the way up to and including you. I also kindof remember (Might be wrong) you posted some mods on your car, so don't talk shit when we are talking piss here (stock for stock off the showroom floor)
As far as speed density is concerned the difference between the two is marginal. If I farted hard enough my L98 would beat your SD car, if the weather was shitty your at a handicap and I'm at an advantage.
:Rant off: I just get pissed when some 20 year old kid that thinks he can wrench on a car and started a year ago, buying his car because it was cool tries telling it like it is when in the real world he's talking through a paper asshole. :mad:

I hardly call my car modded Wardo. In fact I don't even consider it very fast. Before I did anything to it except put the hood and the filter I ran a 14.53 best time for my first time racing, it was the best of like 3 or four runs. I still can't launch this car worth a shit. It also ran a 9.38 in the 1/8 in the same form. It also had 130,000 miles. Since then I have added what you see in my sig (not much of anything, really) and I've only managed to get a 14.49. As you can tell, my driving skills are a little less than to be desired. My 60 foot times have never improved, consistent 2.2's.
I will agree with you that the L98 does not own the Mustang by any means. In fact it has a hard time beating it. But I will argue with you until the end of the world that the stock vs stock 5 speed mustang is not going to beat a stock 92 L98 car. To tell the truth, I don't know a whole lot about the early years (82-87) so I won't make any comments there. And of course you don't have to beleive what I say because I'm just words ont he screen to you, but I have raced stangs before and have beaten some. I do believe that the 5.0 Mustang motor is king when it comes to aftermarket, because modded 5.0 mustangs have handed me my ass on numerous occasions.
There are also other members on this board and other boards with cars like mine with similar track times. I don't understand your logic on the farting to make your car faster than mine due to mine being SD...?
And what the fuck is with the cheap shot on my car?

SD cars are actually a decent bit faster than you average MAF 350 Wardo.
A late L98 was a good match for a 5spd 5.0 no matter who you declare the winner. Neither blows either into the dust. The auto 5.0 isn't even in the same ballpark however, too bad the L98 couldn't be had w/ a manual... Stangs definitely have the reputation for being faster though. That is largely GMs fault for offereing so many shitty v8s in the thirdgens. Ford had it right, you buy a V8 stang you get a hot motor. GM dicked around w/ too many boat anchor low output 305s, and even when they offered a strong engine like the L98 in the car they cursed it with an auto tranny only... Oh well.
To the initial topic of this post, Camaros are for hicks, that may be so but the Mustang isn't exactly a high society car either, lol. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black (to use a lame old cliche)...
