Aftermarket Air Lid Install

What you need:

1) Flat-head screwdriver

2) Pliers

STEP 1:
Unclip the air box. Now locate the pushpin on the driver's side of the air box assembly. Place a flat-head screwdriver underneath the head of the pin while holding down the "collar" portion with your thumb. Pull pin the pin up and remove it. These things weren’t designed to be taken out so it’s kind of a PITA. I ended up just cutting mine out because I wont be using them again, you can still replace the stock air box without them. The GM part number is 12551599 incase you want to replace them. Remove the one on the passenger side the same was as the driver side.

STEP 2:
Now pull the wires off the IAT and MAF sensors. Once the clips are gone loosen up the clamp in between the MAFS and the Throttle Body. Pull the entire piece off.

STEP 3:
Now that you have the piece off loosen the clamp between the lid and the MAFS. Wiggle the lid back and forth to get it off the MAFS, on some cars its very tight and some its loose so just have I patience.

STEP 4:
Once you have the lid by itself you have to get the IAT sensor out so you can put it in the new one. This can be hard but you have to wiggle it a lot. Try using a pliers but be careful not to hurt it. Intake In case you break it the part Number is 12160244.

STEP 5:
Once you have it out its a lot easier to put in the new lid so wiggle it in there. Use the rubber grommet supplied with the lid usually and join the lid to the MAFS, again it may take some wiggling.

STEP 6:
Once you have the Lid and MAFS together go ahead and bolt that back up to the throttle body. Plug in all your wires and clip down the new air lid and your done!

You should feel a SOTP difference this mod has been proven to be worth about 10hp.

Ooh, ooh, where can I get one for a 1982 Camaro with an Iron Duke?
