Given the recent diversity of cars used by the D/FW area POPO as unmarked units. How can you know when you are being pulled over by a real policeman. I work at Federal Mogul and we sell Light bars for both the roof and for mounting in the grill and back windows. If I am on a dark road and blue caprice and or crown vic comes up on me and hits his lights, could I get away with not stoping until the nearest gas station or populated area? My Grand Mother brought this up in conversation and I was just wondering about that. I have seen Chevy puckups, Ford Taurus', Blazers, and Luminas(as cop cars they are a joke.) being used as police cruisers. How can you tell if it is legit when the car has no push bumper, multiple antenea, or insignia anywhere on the car?

This is specific to the Texas area.. but usually if it is an unmarked unit and you don't stop they will usually assume you don't believe they are an Officer so they will call in a marked unit to initiate the stop.
That is if you maintain your speed and don't drive irratic. Don't speed up or try to elude the Officer or you will be proned out at gun point. ;)

Here, in Utah, it is against all agencies policies for an unmarked unit to participate in a persuit, only cruisers with full markings and lights may persue, unmarked units can start the persuit but after any marked unit join the persuit it must take over as primary and the unmarked unit must break off and obey all traffic laws.

In Hawaii the PD's use thier personal cars as thier police vehicles! I wish Utah would do this! ;) Talk about stealth cruisers!
