hey blue, im in SF, and i noticed the cops are WAY SUPER laid back here, compared to L.A. they seem to be more into helping the community or something and real crime...than traffic violations, etc. whats the deal? or have i just been lucky?

I can't really speak for all of the departments in my area but I know for the most part, a lot of the departments here are focused on the whole Community Oriented Policing. That is, getting involved with the community's activities, setting up programs for the community to get actively involved in ways to reduce crime in their area, and just simply "getting out of the car" to talk to citizens more.

Does it work? Studies have shown that it has improved most citizen contact with the police, but not everyone is a believer. I personally think it works, but only to a certain extent.

But just because we are told to do community oriented activities doesn't mean we still don't cite and arrest http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
