Just wanted to go on record as saying "Thank you!" You guys are out there everyday, putting your life on the line. All so we feel some sort of protection from the junkies, crackheads, low-lifes and other assorted weirdos out there. No, I'm not a cop or a cop groupie. Anyone wants to flame me for saying this, go right ahead. I can take it. Just felt that this needed to be said. Now go get your flamethrowers! http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/smile.gif

I'm not a cop but I too respect them, only when I'm on foot, hehe.

i think cops should be paid like $100,000 a year. they really deserve it and work hard for their money.

I make more as a computer guy than when I was a fulltime cop...yet, I hate my job but I love it when I'm out on the streets as a Reserve.
I guess sometimes pay isn't everything...but in the Bay Area, it's a pain in the ass to survive financially when a brand new house costs 4-5 times as much as anywhere else in the country. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/frown.gif

It's a real shame that the men and women who have the call to be officers don't make more money. You really deserve more for the risks you have to take as part of your jobs. You guys put your lives on the line to protect us. I have to say a big THANKS to all of you too.

i'm thinking $200,000 would be a good round number for a starting salary.....
Well, look at it like this. We have to make legal decisions in SECONDS. Those legal decisions can sometimes we worked over by high paid lawyers and judges for YEARS. We damn near do what lawyers and judges do, but in a mere fraction of the time.
We have to take facts that are immediately presented and we have to dust off the cogs in our brains and figure out where the law applies and how. Sometimes it happens so fast that you don't even think about it. You just do it and trust that your knowledge and experience guided you correctly....because if it didn't, those lawyers and judges will hand you your ass.
I'd say $300,000. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/wink.gif
