I might try out for state trooper later on in life, and was wondering what course you all have to take to be eligable to get into the state police, thanks http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/smile.gif
You have to keep your nose VERY clean. I'm talking watch the tickets, too. Get at least two years of college....and what you take doesn't matter, just get college. That should be enough to get you in the door.

Keeping my nose clean won't be too much of a problem since my own dad is a cop http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/eek.gif http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
College won't be a problem.

i was accepted by TXDPS about 6 months ago, but declined to attend the academy. i didn't think it would be too hard to get in, but when they pulled out the anal probe i had some suspiciouns about it. you better be up front with EVERYTHING and not hide a thing. they WILL find it. i think the guy even interviewed the doctor that gave birth to me and left a card for the woman that smacked me on the ass, when i was born to, contact him. after all that, i was offered the job.

In CA, a lot of places around here require at least an Associates degree. In my department, they're thinking of bumping it up to a Bachelor's degree just for entry level/academy graduates.
When I was working at the local McDonald's, a cop came in and I spoke with him, expressing interest in law enforcement. He told me exactly this: "Keep your ass clean and finish college." So...I kept my ass clean and I graduated with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. It'll seem like forever until you graduate, but once you do, it's a great feeling.

Depends on the State really.
Here to better your chances you put yourself through the Police Academy, some states you can't even do that, but here that shows initiative and they don't have to pay your way through or wait while you complete the Academy, you also get a few points if you attended college, more points if you speak Spanish and even more points if you have any prior Law Enforcement experience ie. Military Police or Reserve Officer.
Definately keep your nose clean, if you used weed ect. in High School don't sweat it.. just make sure you are honest at all times, they WILL cross check your answers... as far as tickets, I know one Trooper who had his license revoked for numerous excessive speed cites and they STILL hired him.
Also be physically fit, most states you need to pass a rigorous PT.
Be nice to your neighbors.. they will show up on thier doors and interview them.. ask if they know you.. if you are friendly.. or like to molest small dogs. Mind who you have as friends.. and thier behavior.
I'm in the process of getting back into shape.. I will be testing with the Highway Patrol later this year. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/smile.gif

Just as everyone else said, keep your nose clean. They will shake every bush you ever peed on!
