Well, I got a nice email from the Chief of Police in our community today. I had filled out a complaint on the PD's website and this was the response. He stated he is aware of the problem with this one section of road and it is the "most dangerous and violated in the city". He is stepping up patrols on the street again and within 4 weeks will have a full time Traffic Saftey Unit assigned with this road as a primary target. I just filled out the complaint yesterday, prompted by a guy trying to run me off the road directly in front of the elementary school. He floored his car and passed in a no passing zone just before a very narrow bridge. I had to hit the sholder of the road to keep him from running into me or me clipping the edge of the bridge. There was also a 2 person fatality wreck yesterday on another road in the community caused by tailgateing. The guy who caused the wreck pushed the car in front of him into on coming traffic. Instant head on collision. It's so sad that people have to be in such a hurry that they don't care what happens to others or their property. The chief was on the news last night urging everybody to slow down and keep a safe distance. I was happy to see the response from the PD, and hopefully they can get things calmed down a little. I swear, I feel like I need a armored tank to just drive in this damn town.

http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/frown.gif, why can people just take it easy and not be in so much of a hurry. You can't change some people though. I almost think going fast because your late is worse than going fast for thrills because when your late, YOU HAVE TO BE THERE. At least when you want to see "what your car can do" you can decide whats safe and whats not.

Good luck, too bad they can't do something about that person.

Exactly Aquabatz! When a person wants to see what a car will do, they tend to choose a remote location with little to no traffic. Not a neighborhood street in front of an elementary school! I do my share of fast driving, but I do use my brain. I NEVER speed in dangerous conditions, tail gate or speed in neighborhoods and school zones. I have been known to keep up with traffic on interstate and open it up a little on deserted country roads.

Maybe the road needs an engineering survey and the speed limit needs to be set at the 85th percentile rule. Sounds like the speed limit on that road is set too low on purpose and needs to be re-evaluated. I bet theres a lot of tailgating cause the speed limit it set too low on purpose and every so often you get someone obeying the speed and trying up traffic.
