Just curious,I'm an MP at Ft. Belvoir in VA, atleast until I get out next Feb. I'll probably try to get on the Tampa or Clearwater dept in Florida, hopefully. Six years in the military is about all I can handle.Well anyway it's late and I figured I'd drop you guys a line and say hey.....
United States Army Military Police Corps.
1987-1989 United States Army Reserves
1989-1990 Virginia Army National Guard
1990-1991 Fort Hood, Texas (active duty)
1991-1992 Johnston Atoll (active duty)
1992-1994 Fort Hood, Texas (active duty)
I had a good friend at Belvoir several years back. He loved it!

I see you've been around the block a few times TC.Belvoir is nice, but a little to close to DC for my liking.I've only been here for about six months, before that was Korea, and before that was Ft. Bragg in NC.It's been fun......

Ugh, Fort Bragg. What an armpit of the world! I did 2 weeks training out there when I was with the 29th Infantry Division's long range scouts. That place SUCKED! Of course, we spent the entire damned time camped out next to one of the DZ's or trying to drown ourselves in Deep Creek, so I didn't really get to see if they had a good part to that place. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/smile.gif
I came up on levy back in 91 and they gave me a choice of Korea or J.I. I chose J.I. because I knew I'd get into trouble in Korea. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I wish I could have gone to JI instead of the ROK, but they are no longer sending people there. There finally going to close it down.Yeah, I know what you mean about getting into trouble in Korea,it's easy to do there. In the field the whole time you were at Bragg hunh? well you pretty much saw everything they had to offer....when I got off the bus in Jan 96,the first thing I heard was welcome to fayettenam NC....I knew I got screwed http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/wink.gif

Hey guys, i am the future of our military. I am an Pre Boot Marine and i just wanted to say that i am proud to become a part of something so great!
Thanks
Eric
One thing to remember when you get to basic training.....DON'T VOLUNTEER FOR SHIT! If someone from a work detail comes up and asks if you have a drivers license, SAY NO!!! He'll say, "Well, son, if you're licensed to drive a car, surely you can drive this wheel barrow."

My dad was an Army officer stationed at Ft. Belvoir and the Pentagon when I was a kid. I enjoyed seeing the sites in D.C. Thats a beautiful part of the country.

I'll have to agree with TC, don't volunteer for shit....I don't know much about the marines(2 cousins are marines)but if you haven't started working out on your own,you need to.It will make things much easier on you.I started working out and running about 3 months before basic and it still kicked my ass.....

Absolutely. Run, run, run then run some more. The first thing they did with us when I got to basic was they made us run 2 miles to gauge our starting physical agility. I had never so much as WALKED 2 miles before then! It kicked my ass! But at the end of basic, I could sprint the two miles. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/smile.gif

all my buddies are ex marine people. i make fun of them ALL the time. then there's the one, GUN-HO. they were taught that to differentiate which one to shoot with and which one to have sex with. MARINE is just a synonym for a sailor's dance partner. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Marines are all cocky bastards! That's the way we get brainwashed in boot camp. When you have it drilled into your head 24/7 for 13 weeks, you get convinced real quick.
