Well...burnouts are a form of Exhibition of Speed.

Its dangerous...

Its much easier to lose control of a car when you're running the hell out of it.

When you have loss of traction in your tires, you basically have no control of your vehicle. Hence, it becomes a heavy metal mass flying in a direction that can possibly injure or kill people.

Also, by doing burnouts, people normally look to see what's happening. A guy can roll by in his new car, see you doing a burnout, and thinks to himself, "So he thinks he's a badass, eh?" So he goes up to the guy doing a burnout and wants to race him. Now, it went from an exhibition of speed to a speed contest.

Heck...it can happen. In fact, it did with a buddy of mine. He was the one who got busted.

http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif Puh-leeze! Around here it's either, unsafe movement, unnecessary noise or reckless driving, take your pick.

Don't tell me you have complete control of you vehicle while "burning out".

A one-legger smoke show will most likely get you a unnecessary noise, unsafe movement ticket. Get it sideways and that will
be a reckless ticket.

It's a proxy address he's using. Probably just flame bait.

no flame bait....im just really curious about all the picky and detailed bullshit...

when you burn out...your back tires are spinning but your foot is halfway on the brake and on the gas....

thus spinning the tires you can let off of the gas and apply more pressure to the brake

what is not in control of your car?.....

Please read my post again. It could be one of several different violations. If it's as you describe (what we call a power brake) then the offense would be unnecessary noise.
Unless of course you have a silent car.

You basically proved our point. It can be very dangerous.. no, its not always going to cause an accident. Its illegal, because it CAN cause an accident.

The idea is to keep people from doing it, that way there is no risk of an accident from it.
