View Full Version : Do you guys have different certification levels?
In Texas you have Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Master Peace Officers licenses. It takes about 20 years to get your Master Peace Officer license. You have to attend TONS of college classes for it while getting ZERO course work credits for them. It's crazy because in any other job, you'd have a BS degree by the time you reach Intermediate.
Anyway, the State finally gave me my Intermediate license yesterday, so that's a neat little pay raise right there. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/smile.gif

Not in Connecticut, no mattter if you are full or part-time you attend the academy and receive your P.O.S.T. certification (police officer standards and training) and are issued your "blue card".
Then you are required to have ninety hours of recertification training every three years. Miss an hour and you turn in your badge, no exceptions, no excuses.
My department (all part-time) goes well beyond the 90 hours.
Wow, Texas is weird then.

Not in Utah either & I have gone through all the same training and certifications as any "road officer". The only difference is their dept's certifies them as Peace Officers 24/7. The State certifies me a Peace Officer while on duty.
Since my wife just got a higher paying job I might be able to take a pay CUT and move out to a PD. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/wink.gif sad ehh.
Dude, do it! I couldn't imagine doing any other fulltime job. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

We (Okla), have Basic, Intermediate, & Advanced Certificates issued by CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education & Training), based on points. You accrue points with years of service & ongoing CLEET classes through the years. You can also use college credit hours. I have my Intermediate by using my college hours, but my PD only pays extra for actual college degrees, nothing for the CLEET certificate.
