I'm now living in S. Dakota where they require front plates. I've seen a few cars with the front plate inside the car, on the dashboard. Is this legal?

My T/A has never had a front plate braket on it and I'm not at all happy about possibly having to drill holes in the front of it. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/frown.gif Any other suggestions on where/how to put the plate on?

As far as the legality of having it on the dash or anywhere other than the standard place, I don't know but I'm sure Firecop or TC can tell you. I have also heard of people mounting plates on the airdam under the car. I doubt that's actually legal, but a few people said they got away with it.

I was checking the Texas traffic code for updates, and somewhere along the line I missed one. Now it says that the front plate must be visible from the front. It used to specify WHERE it had to be. So, if you were in Texas, you would be legal.

i haven't had a front plate on my car for 2 yrs, even though it's required here. Haven't gotten hassled about it even once; it's only a $17 fine if they want to be pricks about it
