That's what the one friend at work told me as I walked around a 91 Riviera a guy at work brought in for me to look at. The comment kind of surprised me and it took some of the wind out of my sail. This was a sharp looking car, power everything and a motor running smooth and I didn't appreciate his opinion at the time. As I thought of his comment later in the day, I still wondered why he would say that. (light bulb comes on) He used to run a garage...and knew what mechanics would buy off customers and recondition. I did a beeline back to the car and started looking closer. There, across the hood, a definite line of repainting. Follow the line down over the fender and see the the small crimps around the wheel well, as if the metal had been reshaped. Frontend damage, more noticeable from underneath. Go to the rear of the vehicle, lots of rust up in the frame...crap,... NEXT!

If I have enough money at the end of summer I am going to Georgia to look for a beater. The joys of a travelling job!

He came down to 2500 today...I came across an identical one at the hanger and he has his listed for 5200 but willing to go lower. He assured me a carfax wouldn't be necessary for his...still way to much for >100K.
