Transmission Shift Kit?

Is the stock transmission in a '90 Camaro 3.1L the 700-R4? Also, has anyone bought and installed a shift kit for a 3.1L? If so, was it worth the money, how hard was it to install, and what brand would you suggest?

for one the shoft kit cost $30 and two its a little complicated to put in if ou havent done them before. i live in fresno and ive put in at least 5 shift kits.
3 in the 700 which is what you have.

Yes the shift kit you get IS for a 700-R4. A freind of mine has a 89? 2.8 that got it. He now chirps 1-2 and 2-3 if hits it hard enough. IMO not really worth it. Do other things first. He did it cause he got the kit for 75 and intalled professionally for 75.

my father owns a tranny shop, he rebuilt my tranny for free, and put a nasty shift kit in it. I have an 89 2.8L and at full throttle, 1-2 I send the car sideways, and 2-3 I chirp, not bad for a 100hp 2.8L V6, eh?
