I have an '85 Berlinetta that I bought from a friend. Not to long ago, I blew the tranny out. I has the 700R4 in it.
I don't know if I should rebuild it, buy a rebuilt one or buy a T5.
My question is if I want to put a T5 in it, will it be easy, fairly cheap and can it be done????
Its just a daily driver, nothing special, I just want to row through the gears on the little POS. :D :D :D

My guess is that it would fit, but you might have to some fabricating work on the floor board in between the seats. But i'm not sure

If it's just a daily driver and nothing special, just rebuild the 700R4 and be done with it. The time and money you would have to put into swapping a T5 in there wouldn't be worth it to you if all it is is a daily driver. To do the swap, you'd need the transmission, a different bellhousing, a clutch, all the hydraulic clutch linkage components, the clutch pedal, a new shifter, and center console lower shift boot, and upper shifter plate. And that's probably not even everything. Then you have to put everything in the car and get it together. So, unless you plan on doing a V8 swap somewhere down the line and a T56 swap to back it up, then an auto to manual swap at this time probably wouldn't be your best route.

Whoah, I didn't even think of all that stuff, thanks SillyWabbitt. :D :D (Trix are for kids) :D :D
So, if I could get my hands on all of that stuff, would it be an easy or difficult install??

Check out this link.

And this is just for stock 3rdgen tranny to another thirdgen.
Here's the link for an aftermarket T56

Like I said, an auto to manual swap would be A LOT of work.
