Just wondering. I know that the second gens came with them, not sure if they did with the 3rd's.

my understanding is that the 4-cyl was only available from 82-84

Stanley is right. They were short lived. Who wants a muscle car with no muscle?

You could get a 4 banger in a second gen???

I knew a girl with a 82 camaro 4 cyl. Rated at a whopping 90 hp. Engine blew up (literally) and put a hole in the hood

The last 2 times to the junkyard i've seen 4 4 cyl. Firebirds. The funny thing is, all the motors are fully complete, untouched. Nobody needs parts from a 4 cyl F-body cause nobody has one.

I have a Chevy Citation that has the same 4-banger they put in the F-bodys. 2.5 liter with decent torque, but not much power. It sounds like a tank though.

I owned an 82 4cyl Camaro.
They weer NOT available in a 2nd gen ever.
82 - 86 were the ONLY years they were available in an F body. They were 2.5L TBI.

I swapped mine out and put in a 2.8 MPI and 5 speed in.
That 2.5 was a POS that used a quart of oil a week, and had no power.

The only good thing about the 4 cly. cars is that they have 3:73 ratios :) good for ppl on a budget and really don't want a posi unit.

Well, actually the iron duke four banger has quite a following. Those engines can handle tons of boost and tons of horsepower. They are great little engines.

I had an 85 IRON DUKE 2.5 liter, I think 86 was last year for it...
