power chips

any of you guys know of a good power chip for a 3.1 ? i know there's alot of different companies that make them. are they all the same do different ones perform better than others any info ? also do you guys know where you can find other performance parts for the 3.1, such as cold air intakes or any little power mods ?

If you are going to get a chip go with a Fastchip. It's the best one for the 3.1 and they have a model made specifically for the 3.1. You can order one at www.fastchip.com (http://www.fastchip.com) It won't make you a lot faster, but it does help a bit.

I have a Hypertech Power Chip in my 1991 V-6 3.1 Firebird. It helped noticeably I would say, I can tell a difference when I run Premium opposed to other grades of fuel. And stores, like BP is better then SpeedWay and such. You'll tell a difference, it's cheap and really easy to install, but you prolly have to go to a speed shop to order it, or I am told Auto Zone can order you a Hypertech one, there's the racing chip and power chip I believe.

The best company that makes chips from experience is superchips. They may be expensive, but they pull the most from the motor. You also dont need to replace the thermostat.

I went with the Hypertech Thermomaster chip and 160* Thermostat. I am pleased with it. $149 at AutoZone. Also goto GM Performance Parts site and look under, Engine Parts, 60* V6's, they have cams, lifters, rocker arms, valve springs, pushrods and such. No cold air intakes though.
