I want to put new speakers in the 91RS and I have some questions. What is the better speakers out there now? What kind of setup do you guys have or like? I am thinking sub woofer and then 4 other speakers for the mid range and highs. Opinions and advice???
My personal preference is Boston Acoustic. I have only heard favorable comments about them. There are several good brands of speakers, but I have really liked the Boston Acoustics that I have bought.
I would get a few CDs that you really like and listen to a lot and hit the car audio place. Have a set amount of money that you are willing to spend and compare models in that price range. Listen to the different speakers on the same system so you can hear the differences and decided for yourself which you prefer.
If you plan on adding a sub woofer, you will also need an amp. You will probably want to go with at least a single 10". Depends on how much added bass you want.
My IROC has 4" Boston Acoustics in the dash and Boston Acoustics 6x9s in the back. I plan on adding a single 12" eventually, but the stereo is not high on my priority list at the moment :)

clarion and mb quarts are the only way to go. i have mb quarts in the front, polk audio 5 1/4's in the middle, and 2 12" orion cobalt series subs in the trunk with a 1200 watt amp powering the subs and a clarion amp powering the door and front speakers. this is in my toyota. it is a nice setup, but get ported if you want big bass, not a sealed box. my camaro will have mb quarts up front, some kick ass 6 by 9's (they will have to be able to take 180 watts a piece from my old sub amp lol), and 2 fausgate 15"'s with 2 800 watt amps powering em. i used to be a ricer and i like crazy ass stereo setups lol.

I only have a pioneer head unit and speakers, 4x6 in the front and 6x9 in the sail panels. Eventually i will add a sub/amp but for now what i got plays my smokey and the bandit soundtrack just fine..."over and out I'm East bound and down."

I have a pretty cool setup that I'm fairly happy with. I have a 45Wx4 Clarion Pro Audio (model DRX 5675) head unit powering 2 6.5" MB Quartz speakers in custom kick panels up front and 2 Polk Audio 3 way 6x9's in the rear sail panels. Then I have a 90Wx2@4ohm Lightning Audio Amp running two Pioneer 10" subs rated at about 145Watts nominal each. Although it's not a high powered system, everything sounds pretty awesome, to me at least. The bass is really nice, and the mid and high ranges are kept up by the front and sail panel speakers.

You folks are giving me some good ideas. Currently I have a Sony 40X4 unit and a Sony 10CD Changer. That I want to keep. The current speakers are Kenwood I think, with the standard 6 X 9's in the back in the sailpanels and the 4 X 6's in the front. I want to step this up so an amp is in the plan and I am thinking sub woofer as well. I have looked at some of the Fosgates, Sony,
Pioneer, you name it. I'm still trying to get a handle on the best for the mid range speaker for the dollar right now. Also, what kind of Sub Woofer setup should I look at???? Thanks to all of you for your opinions!!

the best advice I can give is pay a visit to www.carmedia1.com (http://www.carmedia1.com) they got the best prices for just about any brand you want... Id look at Image Dynamics for Your subs.. Orion is the only way to go on the amps and Boston mids and highs kick ... Im currantly running a system with the above mentioned items in an 89 Formula with a hand crafted sealed fiberglass box.. and I gotta tell Ya.. it kicks and its clean... and through car media.. I only spent about half the true value... good luck..

I'm running a Panasonic head unit, Infinity 4x6 plates and BOSTON 6x9's in the sails. The infinities could handle the bass I was hitting them with and they sounded better than the others I listened to, the Polk 4x6’s came close, and the Boston’s kick ass. Right now I also have a single 12" with a 120w amp, I got it free, so I’m not complaining yet. But I would recommend two subs, either two 10’s or two 12’s, with a high power amp. If anyone knows where I can get a box that fits down in the back, let me know. I need to upgrade soon, I’m getting close to blowing the crap out of my one 12”. Or I may just custom build a band pass box in the back! I have measurements, but it will be hard, Good luck!
