I have a box with 2 10"s and 2 tweeters. It is run off an amp but i have no clue what its rated at. its an alpine. the stereo is also a alpine but its old, time for a new one. what would be a good set up around 500-600 bucks. new subs, deck and 4 speakers, and an amp.
My other question is this. the guy i bought the car from had all this installed, its pretty clean and wired throught the panels, but the rear speakers are disconnected and a harness is plugged int the factory plug. this harness runs the subs. what do i need to hook up the rear speakers and the subs. any suggeations would be great.

Try hooking the rear speakers back they way they should be and run some RCA to an amp for the subs. I would get a new Head unit first though. Make sure ALL the speaker wires are correctly hooked up at the rear of your stereo also.

Sorry I was not finished yet, try this, Get a CD player a t Wal-mart that has at least 45 watts by 4 or more and at least one set of RCA's but two sets would be better, one set at least to run your sub amp $150-$200 Now if you do this and see any VR amps at Wal-Mart STAY AWAY, they suck! Check out your local pawn shop and look for some amps like newer Kenwood, Rockford, PPI, Kicker, Audiobaun, and so forth....name brand stuff, not BOSS, or Pyle or god forbid Jensen. "HAVE THEM TEST ALL CHANNLES FOR YOU BEFORE YOU BUY!! You should be able to get a 300+watt 2 channle amp for $50-$150. Why you are there check out their sub's and other speakers...look for JL's, Rockfords, Infinitys, Audiobauns, Boston Acoustics, JBL's again name brand stuff and try to stay away from the yellow Lightning Audio subs. Just because these things are at a pawn shop dosen't mean they are junk, I have found and bought many great car audio things from pawn shops including the JL audio 10w3v2 subs that I now run in my car, price paid $180 for the pair and they make it hard to breath. Happy shopping.
