I have an '86 TA with a 350. So far i have edelbrock performer rpm intake, holley 750, hedman headers and y-pipe, and hurst billet/plus shifter. i have the stock rear end still with limited slip and stock gears (i think 2.73). anyways, i wanted everyones opinion on what ratio i should get. 3.73 or 4.11's. i am also gonna put posi on it when i put in the gears, i just am having a hard time deciding which to get. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
aaron

i say 3.73..

i have the a4 in my '86 IROC and the 4.11s in the back are just a shade too short..

i always wished that i had a bit more top end.. i rev about 3000rpm at 60mph..

just my $0.02, though

being carbed and a stick car,4:11 wouldnt hurt it with a 5 speed.Depends on what kinda driving you plan to due, mostly town etc, 4:11 would be ok,a little steep ,but ok.If much hiway driving is expected,id go with the slightly higher 3:73

If you don't mind losing overall top speed, get the 4.11s.

With my 3.73's, I go into 4th gear on my 700R4 before the end of the 1/4. If I had an earlier Th700, it wouldn't go into 4th, so I would totally7 run out of steam up top.

I ran 3.89's for a while, it was just a little too low for me. It made 1st gear completely useless, and 2nd almost useless unless you are on concrete. I don't know what it is like where you drive, but stoplights in Harrisburg are polished pavement, no concrete, so even 3rd gear sucked sometimes. Maybe 3.73's would be *high* enough so you could put the torque down?

Yea, 3.27:1 first gear for all us stick-ers.

BTW, what is first on the 700R's ?
(Tremec TKO, 454 + .030, Moser 9" rear, 3.50's now)
