This is really concerning me and any help is greatly appreciated.

I recently got my car back from the body shop and I put all the sheet metal and the radior/ac condesor back on (including the hood w/o the cloth). My car is severly over heating. All the fluids are full, antifreeze, oil, trans and the thermestat is telling lies.

When the engine is running and/or im driving it wont go any higher then the midpoint.
If the engine is off and the car is in accessories the thermestat jumps to the mid point and slowly climbs to the red....
When the engine is off and the accessories are off, its all the way down to the left.

I can tell its running hot because I can feel it when driving. Performace decreases and i can smell the hottness, as well as seeing it eminating from the hood vents.

I just recently put the airdamn back on and there is no difference. Any clues what to do?

I would say that the heater core is bad cause my '87 camaro did the same thing. Once I replaced the heater core the smell was gone and the car ran fine.

to test the heater core theory, bypass the heater core and take the car for a test drive..

how long does it take for the motor to start overheating? you might wanna recheck coolant levels and see if you fans are turning on..

keep me posted here, on my site, whatever
Colin
bopseth@aol.com / AIM: bopseth / ICQ: 8986743

replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor (on top of the manifold, right by the upper hose, ill show ya if ya dont know). Replace the upper radiator hose. My dad guesses that for some strange reason the motor didnt have enough coolant (yea it Looked full). Hope that helps. Ill give you your book next time i see ya.

Its seems to be running normal now. Any idea what temp the fan is supposed to turn on?

On a side note, the catalist in my catalitic converter fell into nothingness, it sounds like a mess and slows the car down a lot...KHJGRT*^%T IYUFG78...blood...666

time to gut the cat
take off the cat back pipe, get a good metal bar and gut away. i ll be happy to help destroy...your inspection is good 4 a while (right?)...just get a cat from the montecarlo boy and put it on if/when you need it

Will do. Now my brakes mysteriously went bad. The pedal is high and at times hardly moves. It can barley stop the car.

If I pump the brakes with the car off it works for the time being. Other than that they dont work. The car can idle foward with my foot hard on the brake peddle.

Front brakes look fine.
fucking mysteries!!! ahhh!!!!
