OK, I own a 71 Olds Cutlass with a Rocket 350. I can get a rebuildable 455 out of the paper for $100. I would like to try my
hand at rebuilding it because I am taking Auto Mechanics at school.

My question(s): Will a 455 bolt up in place of a 350? Will the transmission that is behind the 350 work with the 455? Where can
I find information like this on 70-72 Cutlass'?

Also, just out of curiousity, do you this a Olds 350 would bolt into a 88 Pontiac Firebird?

Thanks for all your help!

Put the olds 455 in the Firebird:

Then you can say:

Owner of:
-1988 Maui Blue Firebird
-14-inch (17's coming soon) Cragar Street Stars
-Soon to have a 455 instead off wussie 350

Actually, its not as hard as it sounds, why not have a torque monster in your Firebird. We used to have an olds 88 with a 455, too bad my dad sent her to the junkyard when the trans went before I was old enough to beg him to keep it around. I still remember how that car would twist to the side when he would punch the gas down.

Swapping should work fine. Just remember that you need to use a tranny from an Buick, Olds, or Pontiac. Hence BOP bolt pattern on tranny. Make sure you get the complete motor mounts. Have you checked the prices of rebuild kits for non Chevy applications??? Best of luck to ya! I've been there.....
