I want to build a serious street motor for my 89 Formula w/TPI and 5spd.No blower and no nitrous and expense is not a consideration.I don't want a grenade but it has to hit hard. What do you think? A aftermarket block with a big crank or destroke and spin it up?A Richmond trans and a good rear diff will be in the works also. You're ideas?

Depending how hard you want to hit, a richmond transmission might not be the way to go. For the same price, a tremec is the hot setup. Forte's Parts
is where I got mine from, all ready to go, torque arm, crossmember speedo cable, reverse switch, and even an adapter so the shift handle is in the perfect place. You can even choose to have a tighter 4th to 5th gear ratio. Either the usual 1.00 - .68 or 1.00 to .82 (I think) That's something to think about if you are really going to do a lot of racing v. trying to get good highway mileage.

As far as an engine, I need to find my magazine article that steps you through building a 350 with 11.93:1 compression that runs on 89 octane. Yes. Lots of compression, not a lot of $$ for premo gas + octane boost. If you are open minded, a big block would give you some zip, especially if you went with the 11.08:1 ....

Thanks for the transmission link.I really want a higher than 3.27 first gear though. That is a pain w/3.73 gears.
I do not want to convert from Mass Air to Speed density and I understand that the Mass Air only flows 800 cfm. That pretty much kills the idea of building a 434ci motor.I wish I could find some past articles on TPI Mass Air motor build ups.
