yeah you'll need them both...everything else needed for the conversion should be included with the rear end

Just completed a rear end swap. From a 1987 10 bolt drum to 1989 9 bolt disc rear. What you need are the proportioning valve, emgr. brake cables and new brake hose fittings (maybe??). I did not change my master cylinder.

You know, it costs a few bucks, but the easiest rear end swap I ever did was this last one:
Moser 9" for 3rd generation camaro, with Torino Bearings (3.150 diameter), 2.500" standoff for the axles. Then a set of Baer Touring 12" PBR single piston brakes, and Baer's 9" in camaro install kit and I was down the road. If I wouldn't have stopped to clean the underside of the car with paint thinner (which by the way, restored the underside to a perfect glossy looking factory gray...) the entire swap wouldn't have taken more than 3 hours. What?!?! A rear swap, including brakes, in 3 hours? Yes, true, the Moser piece was perfect, and I didn't hook the proportioning valve in that I bought. Thats right, master cylinder that used to run drums, being used with discs. Blah blah blah 'your car won't stop as good as it could' before the 12" discs in the back, 60-0 in 108 feet. How much better do you want? ;-)

You can take a look here, I'll write something clean up, and maybe post it here so anyone interested in doing this can read something.

hehe
that boy's a genius,
3.89's

I figured someone would count the teeth on the pictures.

Anyway, just unhooked and put in 3.50's last night, suprisingly, the gas mileage was the same with 3.08's and with 3.89's. (13.6 mpg after taking into account the speedo and odometer differences)I figure that going down the highway, the throttle doesn't have to be open as far, so the engine uses less fuel, although at a higher rpm. Any other ideas?

Tell us about where you got the parts etc & how much in general, I am thinking about changing mine out as I try to update the suspension setup.

I could not open up any pics either.
