Power steering went out...

... on the way to work today. Stopped for gas, shut car off, started her back up, and suddenly must-apply-force-of-death-at-anything-under-55mph.

What do I check when I get out of work ('86 2.8 V6)? Parking this thing is a %##$@#...

Check your fluid level, make sure it's not really just a broken belt. Other than that I would just have to say that your pump died.

Thanks. Turned out to be a hose, driver's side. I think I can cut the torn part off and re-attach.

Glad my pump still works. Was afraid about what would happen - ran it dry for a while.
