Start with a good set of tires, then struts/shocks. Check your bushings, are they worn? If so you might want to rebuild the front and rear suspension. Box your rear control arms and panhard bar or buy aftermarket. Check into a Strut tower brace, and a wonderbar to stiffen your steering box area/frame.
A lot of things you can do. Get on some of the boards and do a search of modifications.

yeah i am planning on doing all of that...
what i was wondering is where i should start, i can't afford to do it all at once, and i was wondering what brands some people have used, and which ones perform nicely.

I've just done a bunch of research on this stuff, and come up with a $3000 suspension plan. Here it is.
General
Spohn subframe connectors
Eibach prokit springs (1" drop)
Spohn F/R swaybars
Front
Polygraphite Front End Rebuild from PST
Centerlink from PST
Spohn lower contorl arms
Bilstein sport struts
IROC wonderbar
Kenny Brown (?) Strut Tower brace
Rear
Spohn lower control arms
Spohn LCA relocation brackets
Spohn panhard bar
Spohn torque arm
Bilstein sport shocks
I'm sure there's some stuff I forgot, but do some research and you'll get the drift.

Wow, that stuff sure adds up quick! Looks like a pretty good game plan though. I'm thinking about going a route close to that for building my Z28 up. From what I hear, SFCs are about the best thing to start with. Anyway, I'll keep you posted on the progress with my car...

that looks like quite the plan.
i had been looking at the spohn stuff.
i think first off, i am going to do the SFC and sway bars.
does that sound like the right place to start.???
after that probably 2 weeks or so, LCA and relocation brackedts, wonderbar, and panhard rod.
then save up for the coils and shocks.?
does that sound like a good plan, or should i start somewhere else?

That sounds like a fine plan. I'll probably start with the SFC's once I get the money to buy them and have them installed. The only thing that is regulating how I carry out my plan is that I don't want to do too many mods to just the rear or front of the car, cause having a suspension imbalance may cause some kind of body or frame damage. So I'm trying to stratigically plan how I'm going to install my parts so that I don't have to take a bunch of stuff off and put it back on a million times.

If you want some springs. Now might be a good time to grab some just to have for later. BMR fabrications has a set of Jamex springs that drop your car 1.5 inches for $99!! I ordered mine the other day and the guy told me he only had 10 sets left. Very good deal!
