My tach in my 84ta has died. I need a new one but dont know how to go about getting one or putting it in. Should i get an indash or column mounted one? How do I hook it up?

Well, I'm not the expert on this, but I'm thinking the wire for the tach runs off the distributor.

If you can get one thats about the same size as your old tach and you don't mind the gauges being different, then you can go ahead and stuff it back in the dash.

no, i believe tachs run off of the coil
