Did I miss something or am i just stupid. I was under the understanding that Irocs were all TPI. i didnt think any were TBI. I thought the TBI cars were just Z28's not Irocs. help me out here because it seems like a lot of peopple advertise their TBI cars as an Iroc. just wondering.

I realize that the Irocs were Z28's. What i ment was not all Z28's were Irocs.

the IROC was an option level added to the Z28.
the Z28 'could' have a tuned port injection engine. I almost bought one for 2000$ that needed some work, because I knew that it was rare.
The tuned port injection was 'not' a requirement for the IROC-Z. The IROC-Z was a Sport Package designed to give a streetcar that racecar feel. Powertrains were recommended, but not required.

The IROC came out in 85 as an upgrade to the Z28. It eventually took over for the z28 in 88. 1990 was the last year for the IROC, then they went back to strictly the z28.
If you are really intersted thirdgen.org has a tech data page that has a run down of all engines and specs for all 3rd gens.
