Which would be the best for my daily-driver 91 Formula ?
My transmission is toast(only reverse works),and I'm getting it rebuilt with a few goodies.(B&M shift kit and vette servo)
Would a 2400 stall be to much for me ??
What stall are ya'll running and how do you like it?
THANKS

Do you have a 350? or a modded 305 putting out some power? Then a 2400 would be just about right for the weight of your car.
Otherwise I'd stick to the 2000 stall.

We need more information about your car to make a snap opinion on torque converters.
If your car is basically stock, I'd look at a 2000 stall for a daily driver. If your low on cash, you can get a new stock L35 GM torque convertor for a S10 truck that stalls around 2000.

If it's like my 91 Formula (305 TBI w/2.73's) I personally wouldn't bother.
On the other hand if it's a modded 305/350 and up I would agree with the 2000 range stall. Since I'm putting in a 383 w/3.73's in my car this Spring I'm trying to save enough money to afford a Vigilante (approx 2800 stall according to the tech guy there for my application). BTW, I'll be running about 10:1 comp, carbed with a custom gring roller from Howard cams (Competition Products) .542/.556 lift w/108 LS. Should have a nice lumpy idle http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/biggrin.gif Should be interesting to see wha breaks!

At the moment my Formula is stock.(LO3)
I got a posi rear in my garage, waiting to get the 3.42 ring and pinion.
I'm swapping in a 350 this summer or when the 305 craps out(Which ever happens first)
I was going to do the rear-end first, but my tranny didn't last long enough.
I want a stall for some good take off, but I don't want to much for daily driving.
The way it's looking I'm going to go for the 2400.
THANKS

I thought I was the only poor bastard with the LO3 in a Formula...as long as you have the tranny getting re-done it doesn't hurt to put a little stall in it.
As a side note, I had a 73 Pontiac Catalina with a 400, 2.73's, turbo 400 (stock converter) a mild cam and had very little off the line grunt. I found out the rear had no available after market parts so I swapped in a 10" converter (approx 3000 stall) to compensate. After that the thing would snap your neck launching but drove around town like crap. I ended up swapping one more time and going with about a 2000 stall. Thank goodness I have a F-body that has plenty of available aftermarket parts.

I have a 2500 stall in mine and i love it, took a little while to get used to, but can take almost anyone out of the hole w/o spinning. It actually stalls up to 2200 max
BTW, its a Corvette stall, jsut ask for that

Yup... go with the OEM vette converter. Didn't cost much compared to aftermarket (about $120) and it's been perfect for my application.

What year(s) Corvettes? Is that something a dealer would stock?
If so, sweet.. that's just what I'm looking for...

I picked mine up at a Thrifty's auto supply. I, personally, NEVER go to the dealer if I can avoid it. They charge enough to piss off Mother Theresa.
I put in an '89. That should work for you, to, I think.

Is it something a Kragens or Pep Boys would carry?
