Engine Swap or not?

Here's my delema. I have the LG4 305 in my 92 RS. It sucks! I've already put exhaust w/ headers,hypertech chip,k&n, on it. I don't want to do anything internal if I'm going to need to do an engine swap. I'm planning on one this summer. What should I buy? I want something I can drive to work everyday. Not too loud, not HORRIBLE gas mileage..etc.. must be street legal in TX. ZZ4? can I stroke it? if so, can I TPInject it? I'll have about $3000 to spend by that time..thanx in advance. What heads as well?

How did you get an LG4 in a '92? I thought they were discontinued long before then?

Yeah man, im pretty sure that if its an RS with a V8 (as long as its not that police option one) then it has an L03. Sorry, i cant really answer your question but i was just clearing that up for you. http://www.3rdgen.org/ubb/smile.gif

If you want to do a stroked out motor just get a generic 350 and stroke it out to a 383.

I don't know if ZZ4's are an emissions legal swap in Texas, I KNOW it isn't a legal swap in California. And I don't believe you buy a $4500 ZZ4 motor, stroke it out and have to buy all new internals.. you buy a ZZ4 or ZZ5 and leave it be.

Does texas even have emisions testing?

On the GM Performance Parts website (www.spoperformanceparts.com) they have a 350 with 330 horsepower for right at (for me a little under but your dealer may charge a higher price) $3,000. To see it go to the site and look under crate engines then look for 330/350 HO Deluxe. Good Value, Great Power! Or for about $300 more you can get a ZZ4 (HO is more complete). POst if you need anything else.

thanx guys..and ur right it is an L03..my old 84 was an LG4. And I'll look into emissions problems with that zz4. We don't have testings yet..but will soon.
