I have an 85 T/A with a tuned port 305, it's got about 190,000 miles on it, anyway, it's died on me twice in the past couple of days, when I was slowing down. It started right back up...any ideas on why it would die?? It's stock, no mods or nothing...thanks

The curb idle probably needs adjusted and the IAC passages probably need cleaned.

I have an '88 T/A that is in virtually the same boat. My car also has 190,000 miles and started doing that to me for awhile, but now it has mysteriously gone away. I blamed the idle being too low. My idle in drive in hot TX weather is about 450-500 rpm. I haven't tried cleaning the idle air control motor but I probably should. Sounds like a good place to start to me.
I have also noticed that I don't get any power for a breif second when I am slowing down and then I hit the gas again which leads me to believe that the torque converter isn't unlocking when it should so that may be something to think about too.
If it's a real problem I would try cleaning the iac and maybe trying to raise the idle rpm a little. :)
