My friends mom wrecked her Thunder Bird Super Coupe 3 years ago. The car is a 90 and she just parked it by the side of the garage and left it there. Now my friend and I want to bring it back to life. It need a new battery for sure but what else. No fluids were drained or anything. So its just like you took a running car, turned it off and let it sit for about 3 years and not touch it. The battery is shot, and the car has a 3 year old tank of gas. How could we get this car started and running again. This is a Nice T-Bird, it has a 3.8 Liter Super Charged V6. The reason my friend wants to get this car started is because hes tired of driving his sistes Miata. Its a nice T-Bird and we waxed and cleaned up the entire car. He just need to know how are we going to get it to run?

I think all you would need to do is to drain all the fluids including gas and replace. Check the plugs wires and other stuff for signs of animals eating or living in. Just my thoughts.

Wouldn't you need to flush the oil and trans fluid? How much gas was in the tank? If not full then there might be a good build up of gum on the fuel pump that could burn it out. I'd just clean everything if you care about the car, if not just through a new battery in her and turn the key, if she runs she runs.

The correct way is to drain and replace all fluids, and reprime the engine oil. The way to do this is to take the distributor off, and then spin the oil pump crankshaft.
Not sure if those motors have a dist though.
If not, I would take the spark plugs out and drop a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder, then slowly turn the motor by hand.
The engine will run on dry bearings for an instant before the oil pump gets oil to them, but there isn't a lot you can do about this.
Belts and tires are probably dead as well.

His dad keeps telling us its not worth it. The car still has a half tank in it.
