Alright, I want to buy a 383 engine, i've seen some good onew out there but I dont really know wich one would fit my 91 firebird. It has a stock 350 tpi and I want all the set up to fit in my 383. Wich engine do you guys recommend (brand/link)? Also I want to add a tpis miniram, will this accept my map and my other lines? thank u in advance. :)

ok, to start off, a 383 starts life as a 350, its just got a crank from a 400 in it. that being said, the 383 should drop right in, and everything should fit right on it. i would call around with the companies to try to get the best deal on a 383 or just build your own with your 350 block. the only thing you need to make sure of with the 383 is that its the same style 350 block that you have in your car, there were small changes throughout the years, but as long as it is a Gen I block there shouldn't be any problems, but make sure. as far as your tpi working on it, use oversized injectors and chip your tpi, otherwise you will run too lean.

just my opinion, instead of getting a 383, use that money for a blower.. oh yeah.. nothing beats a blower... lol

if you have any questions, you can pm me, or just call one of the companies that you are looking at 383's from.

Well I am getting a blower too, a procharger to be exact, so Im getting forged internals. Do you think my stock block will take the power? Or do u think I should get a new one?

your stock block will handle the power, its the internals that fail with power. the stock block should be a cast iron block and the only reason your block would fail is if you bore you engine out to where the cylinder walls are thin, the shop boring your cylinders out should know where to take it to for the power you are planning, the most i recommend with doing a 383 is .030 as it is hard to find pistons for a "383" that are more than .030 over without paying alot of cash. i don't recommend using the stock heads though, as it would cost just as much to get them set up for what you want as what new heads will cost. your head valving should be a min. of the following - intake 2.02 exhaust 1.55. and make sure that your heads and intake manifold will work together, ie. some intake manifolds can only be used on iron heads, some only aluminium, others both, vortech heads require a vortech manifold or a manifold that is modified to fit, and the same time, your manifold has to accept your charger setup along with the tpi. and make sure to used oversized injectors and chip your tpi, u don't want to run lean.
