View Full Version : Alignment issues?

1. It's just the alignment, take it to a shop that does alignment and you can get it fixed for 50-100 $
You should have this checked.
2. The previous owner hit a curb at a high speed and bent something underneath. This is going to be rather costly considering you will have to replace the bent part ( I was wondering HOW costly would this be )
Depends on what is damaged, an alignment shop will probably be able to point this out to you.
3. The steering column may have been installed incorrectly. No other feedback on this issue. Could this be an issue and how much would that be.
The steering box could have been replaced or removed and the steering shaft might not be clocked properly. That is the only thing that could be off. I wouldn't worry too much about your column at this point.

WELL TO CHECK THE ALIGNMENT LOOK AT THE TREADWEAR ON THE FRONT TIRES, IF THEY ARE BEING EATEN UP ON THE OUTSIDE THEN YOU HAVE TOO MUCH CAMBER \ / THAT IS HOW THE WHEELS ARE ALIGNED IF THEY ARE CHEWED UP ON THE INSIDE THEN YOU HAVE TOO MUCH CASTER / \ THE WHEELS ARE ALIGNED LIKE THIS. BTW THESE EXAMPLES ARE LOOKING AT THE WHEEL FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR.
IF IT DOES NOT DRIVE STRAIT THEN YOU MAY HAVE A TOE ALIGNMENT PROBLEM, ON BOTH OR JUST ONE TIRE. iMAGINE LOOKING DOWN ON THE WHEELS THEY WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS FOR TOE IN \ /. TOE OUT LOOKS LIKE THIS / \. THE SEVARITY OF THIS WOULD DRAG THE CAR EITHER TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT, DEPENDING ON WHAT WHEEL HAS THE WORSE TOE PROBLEM.

And this would cause the steering wheel to be cocked off? Also, is it possible to damage my vehicle further by driving it in this condition? It's the only vehicle I have and I am rather busy.

Your control arm is fucked. The car has been in a collision before. There was a reason it is cheap. Get rid of it and buy a civic. Thirdgens are pieces of shit.

if someone did any work to the steering box the wheel could be off if they didn't level it when putting it back together.. take it in for an alignment.. if their are more problems go from there.

Nice... Well I finally got things fixed... I had a friend that does aligment look at it and he told me to get new ball joints and struts.. now it drives like a champ.
about the collision thing, I do believe it has been in a collision now that I look at it. The front end looks like a different car compared to the rest. It looks like a car that has been sitting in a scrap yard where as the rest of the car just had small imperfections.
