We started attending a church close by and surprisingly the walls didn't fall in as we entered. Been there about two Sundays when I'm invited to bring the Camaro out to the church's first of the year Car Club meeting. A car cruise in March? Go figure but with temps in the 60's, why not. I went in blind not knowing what to expect. The photos tell all. I took one look and parked far, far away; the token Chevy.

I definitely felt out of place but they welcomed my presence (I think). Faith came along in case I needed backup. We exchanged the usual barbs that comes with the differences and then went in to eat. Nice place, small but good food and cheap. Maybe I'll go back...

But check out their website. Type in Lakeshore Assembly of God for a search and see what they have for a homepage. Like I said, not your typical church. Here's the shortcut, http://www.lakeshoreagmotorsports.com/

Are you sure this is a church and not some cult founded by Henry Ford ? They didn't make you dance around in your underwear with snakes did they?

Oh, I know all about that place.
And that yellow Cobra is sweet. I saw that guy around town with that car all last summer.

I figured you'd recognize some of the cars Nick and the restaurant. Mike, I'm still scratching my head over the church's activities but the pastor knows how to handle a wrench and has been involved with cars since his youth.

Very cool Rob, I would have never thought of church and cars together, but I love the idea. You guys could use more Chevys there. I think Faith needs a camaro hahaha.
Take care , always a pleasure to speak with you.

The pastor of the church gets a message to me that he'd like for me to bring the camaro in on Sunday for a photo shoot featuring some of the cars and the new pavillion built for the upcoming car cruises this year. Again, the token Chevy...

So I get home tonight after a looooong day at work and the pastor has left me a message on the machine. "Hey Bob, bring the Camaro over to Painesville Speedway tomorrow night. We're setting up a tent and I'd like to have your car and my mustang at either end of the tent." Like I said, this pastor sees cars as another avenue for spreading the Word. Plus the fact they sponsor some of the racers. Like I said, this isn't your typical Billy Graham preacher. Should be interesting to see how they run this. Guess my church is not alone for trying to appeal to car owners. Painesville Assembly of God had their car cruise, 6th year for it, last weekend. An 04 Mustang and a 93 Dodge somethingorother beat me out for newer cars on the grass. Everything else was 20 years and older. Over 100 cars in attendance so not bad for a turnout.

The pastor called again, Painesville Speedway this Saturday. Once again, he wants the Camaro under the tent along with a mustang. Hopefully no rain to spoil the night.

The "Power Tent" for the church had myself and a mustang on hand. Come and talk, bring the kids over for face painting, candy and drawings for stuffed animals.

Though the weather was great, the attendance was low both in crowd and drivers as compared to previous years. The track had 80 drivers last year, 35 this year. Mostly in the 4 banger but the 8 as well. One change that lowered the number for the 4 cylinders classes, front wheel drive only and no Mustangs allowed...period. Someone has a grudge for stangs...
Its fun to watch the smaller cars, but its the big, powerful monte carlos and grand prixs, with mid 80s body that just thrill you.

The church is having a carshow this Wednesday, 6 PM till dark. An annual event from what I understand with some of the cars from Painesville speedway being there, the local Mustang club plus the usual area cruisers of classics and rods. Nick, bring the Mustang. I promise the pastor will not sprinkle you with holy water :) Car Krunch (http://www.lakeshoreagmotorsports.com/kru/krunch.html) photos of last year's cruises.

Disappointing turnout that day; weather being the factor. The stangs outnumbered the camaros and for that matter, everything else. 25 mustangs, 4 camaros, a few Mopars and one cool 1953 motorhome. Here's the lineup early on. One guy even came in with a rented mustang. Nice 78 Z though.

There's another Kar Krunch scheduled for this Wednesday evening. We have our fingers crossed that this time the weather will cooperate and bring a bigger crowd. Blood drive too along with food.
I missed this past weekend at Painesville Speedway but I heard it was a good showing. The pastor really takes this event to heart. He runs into the pit area after the races, congatulating the drivers, showing real enthusiasm in their efforts while carrying the church's bumper sticker. He's hoping some of the drivers will bring their cars to the Kar Krunch.
