i have a 97 z28 and im tring to replace the timing cover but i cant get the main bolt to the camshaft balancer off. what size bolt is it? not the 3 bolts that hold the balancer but the one that is bolted onto the camshaft itself thanks

Do you mean the bolt that goes into the crankshaft? It looks like it has a 16mm head or so.

Well I have never touched an LT1 but the cam does have a balancer im aware of. Your fucking with the Crankshaft..
You need a Harmonic Balancer puller.. get 20 bucks and ask for one at the local auto parts store. Jeremy is there a bolt there? I dont remeber ever putting one back on that last engine we (my job) dressed.. but ehh

Did I not just say that there is a bolt there? On just about every fucking engine ever made, there is a bolt right in the center of the crank snout to hold the balancer on. I'm sure the engine you worked on will be fine without one though, no worries.

Do NOT use a gear puller!!! 80 bucks for a new balancer b/c I didn't know what I was doing fucking sucked.
Make certain it's a harmonic balancer puller.

Did I not just say that there is a bolt there? On just about every fucking engine ever made, there is a bolt right in the center of the crank snout to hold the balancer on. I'm sure the engine you worked on will be fine without one though, no worries.
