this is a great camera, so if you are looking for a better than average digicam without the pricetag of a dslr, buy this up, amazing price.

They raised the price, but here is the link to the original lower price:

Snagged a 4GB SD card for it from eBay for $26.97 shipped! :hail:

I paid like $300 for a 4GB SD two years ago. Ain't technology grand?

Hey george, how is the time in between single pics.. i know you can do the 3 shot mode, but just regular single pics.. how long between til its ready for another shot1.3 second recycle time without the flash. As high as 3 seconds with the flash and cheap alkaline batteries. Using high-cap batteries will drop that to about 2 seconds.

1.2 seconds to fire it up and go ultra zoom. Pretty damned impressive!

I'll tell you what I really get when it arrives next week.

The 4GB SD arrived today. Man oh man that was a fucking steal!

Kick ass battery life too -- picked up a four pack of 2700mAh AA NiMH's for $12 from Fry's.

"The PowerShot S2 starts up remarkably quickly for an ultra zoom camera, taking just 1.2 seconds to extend its lens and "warm up" before you can start taking pictures."

Great review: http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_s2-review/index_pfv.shtml

I'll have Mary bring her little Casio Exilim to the Evanescence concert since the S2 is too big to carry in. She snuck my old Casio 3.2MP Exilim into the concert by stuffing it into her bra. :)

We gotta snap some pictures together. PM me your cell number and we can meet up there.

Some gorgeous pictures I found on Flickr taken with the S2 - all on automatic mode and unaltered.

I did have to compress the file sizes a bit to get under the 300K maximum attachment limit, but even with that the pictures still look great to my eyes.

Got it today and messed around with it for a bit. It was too dark to take any cool pictures, so I'll try to get some shots tomorrow.

Didn't have much time or the opportunity to take cool pictures, but here are some picture I took using the Super Macro function. Very cool!

These are un-altered except for the JPEG compression:
