So I'm working on converting an '83 Trans Am to the Knight Rider seen on TV in the '80's. There are suppliers out there that sell anything from complete cars to the pieces to build your own. We have a car so we'll do both the exterior and interior.
There are a couple of ways to go. I can buy the dash and other consoles complete and install them and wire them up. Or I can buy the fiberglass shapes, the overlays for the electronics, the electronic assemblies, and then put them together and install. There is a big $ savings buying the pieces, and I have some time to do it.
What I am wondering is if anyone out there has bought the parts and done the work themselves? There are a number of suppliers, and some of the technology has been changing, so "results may vary", but I'm wondering if I'm biting off too much.
Any comments would be a great help. Thanks
