i have a 91 z28 that was a 305 tpi 5 speed car the pevious owner put a 350 in it but i am not happy with the power because he put the stock 305 heads and intake on it i was just wandering what people might sugest to get a little more power out of it without spending a lot of money becaust i plan on building a blown 383 in a copal of years but i want to have a little more fun till then. i was also wanderin how hard it was to put sicros in the t5 trannys so i can try to keep my in one pice till the motor build when i try to put a tko in so i dont have to wary about it. thank you all for any thing that will help me have fun with this car

you could pop the heads and have the valves enlarged to 1.94 and maybe 1.6.. or go to the junker and steal some vortecs.. Another Idea would be to buy the heads of your choice.. ie fastburns or something and put them on the 305... The 305 TPI and the 350 tpi are the same.. you can buy a baseplate for about 500 bucks and runners for 250-500. its up to man.. Headers help as well..

What cam is in the engine? any ideas?

Im not advising you on the synchros.

you cant just slap a set of fastburns on a 305 yes they would fit but they are WAAAAAYYYYY to big of valves for the itty bitty little bores of the 305

My understanding is that the motor was a 305 but now is a 350 with 305 heads. If you don't want to spend alot of money I would just get a decent set of stock heads, check around to find casting #'s since I don't remember what are good castings anymore.

ah gotcha, i bet there is still a 305 under those heads though. I cant even count how many times somebody has tried to sell me a 305 as a 350 i always run the numbers on the block cause its to hard to tell at first glance.

you can stay with tpi but its gonna be expensive. if not you can basically do everything.. if it has 305 heads I would definitely check the block#

Its been awhile but arent the combustion chambers on the 305 heads small making for a little more compression? If so you could have a little work done and just run a little bigger valves like mentioned above and just run it till you build your other engine.

I've got a 355/T5 combo.
I put a set of AFR heads on it and SuperRam.
It was respectable when the car ran.
Now it's a lawn ornament.
