I just got the results from the mechanic, and 3 of my fuel injectors are bad. I guess that would explain why she feels like she is running on 6 cylinders. Anyways I have 3 questions:

1. What size fuel injectors comes on a stock L98?
2. Is it better to put a larger size (lbs/hr) fuel injector?
3. If I use a larger injectors, do I need to change anything else to get me car running well?

Thanks in advance. :)

1. 22 lbs.
2. Why not just go with 24 lbs, they're more readily available and so cheaper, just get some SVOs, I have like 2-3 sets in my garage. Just doing this won't get you noticable gains, but can compliment other mods.
3. With 24 lbs, not really, but a good tune goes a long way...

I just bought some 26lbs injectors. Thanks for the heads up. :)

keep in mind, the computer doesnt know it has 26lb injectors unless you retune it for them...

so you'll be running rich unless you're in closed loop and it corrects.

Thanks MrDude.

What do you mean by you're in "closed loop and it corrects", forgive me, I don't know too much about the electronics involved.

On a side note...Anyone live in the Northern VA area that could help me do a computer tune (after I install the injectors). I have no idea how to go about that. But I'd love to learn.

open loop:
car uses the sensors, looks up a number on a table and shoots that fuel in. it has no idea if its rich or lean... the car is like this while its warming up. or with specific error codes thrown.

closed loop:
car uses the sensors, looks up a number on a table, uses a correction, and shoots that fuel in. looks to see if the car is rich or lean with the O2 sensor.. it then it corrects that correction number again.. the loop is closed in that the output now effects the input...
so the car will "see" that its rich, and correct somewhat.

i dont know anyone that can tune it for you. i no longer tune GMECMs.. just Accel gen7, Commander950, FAST, megasquirt, LS1 and later GM PCMs.... the older stuff is a PITA compared to the newer junk.

Thanks for explaining. Replacing the injectors will be a new undertaking for me, as I have never done this before. Time to dust off the Haynes manual and get to work.
