Don't hold me to coming as a guarantee as I'm on call 24/7. Yesterday I spent 13 hours at work due to an overzealous contractor. But if I had a preference I'd pick Quaker Steak.

I might be in town for that timeframe... I'll let you know. (I have a physical and a background check 23 October with the Norfolk Southern.) It would be cool to see everyone again!

Hope the railroad gives you good news then Brian. What position are you applying for?

Carman. Basically working out of either the NS yard at Macedonia or Rockport. I guess NS repairs all the coil steel gondolas at Macedonia yard. I also interviewed for Amtrak out of Washington DC and have a offer from them... but...DC is a dump. Although NS pays a little less, the cost of living in DC is a joke. (A SMALL two bedroom apartment in Maryland near DC is about $1000/month with NOTHING included!)
I guess I get to call Amtrak and turn down their offer tomorrow. I kinda feel bad in a way, they were the first to offer a position and I would still be pretty close to friends in this area. Oh well. I also have a offer to attend a hiring session for CSX in Philly, lol! I think military service might well be the best thing I ever did. I swear every railroad is suddenly knocking on my door, all in a month's time frame!
Well it will be good to be back home.
Hopefully see you all there!

That's not surprising. From their viewpoint, there's not a situation they could throw at you that you couldn't handle considering your military background. Talk about a school of hard knocks. Four years of rigorous training, the daily discipline and grind, etc, as long as your record is clean, you'd be looked upon more favorably than the average Joe who applies for a position just for sticking it out for that time.
That tells them they have someone they can depend on and who'll not walk away from the job when confronted with this job's challenges. You made a wise decision 4 years ago, a hard one at the time but now it's going to pay off for you.

it shouldnt bee too much of a problem. at least the browns game isnt until 4. that should keep away any kind of crowd until then.
