My Holley 650 has been leaking small amounts of fuel from a linkage coming out of the passenger side and was wondering if I should rebuild or replace. My car has ran great with this condition but now has a popping coming out of the carb while under moderate to heavy acceleration and poor has power. A so-called carb guru at a local Auto*&ne claims "...no electrical issue would cause a backfire on a non-computer controlled motor". I don't have extensive experience in carbs and am wondering if this carb is simply shot or maybe I should check the HEI pickup coil (as everything else has been tested or replaced). I recently cured a spark knock issue with new plug wires-isn't it funny how problems occur in pairs?? Someone laugh for me...
