about a month ago I bought a 1989 parts camaro and finally have the time to take it apart. However I ran into problems trying to take off the instrument pannel. Please help, which bolts need to be removed and does the whole dash need to come off?
Thank You :)

take off the dash pad. a few screws on top, a few under it. now undo the 4 large (10mm) bolts at the 4 corners of the dash. then undo the cigarette lighter housing screws pull it out and undo the connectors. now undo the screws that hold the aldl connector to the dash. if your center consol is removed already the dash should pull out. dont pull too hard. now start undoing the screws that hold the air ducts onto the dash. then undo or cut the "tie wraps" that hold the wiring harness to the dash. at this point you should be able to see any connectors that you missed or screws that you missed.
just take your time and dont yank or jerk anything apart. if something gives resistance, dont pull on it more, stop and find out why. these dashes will crack EASY.

oh sorry, you just wanted the gauge cluster out.. i miss read.
take off the plastic coverings under the steering column. undo the steering column, let it hang. now undo the screws that hold on the black coverplate. pull it off and now you should be able to see which screws you need to remove. remove them and gently pull the cluster out a little. be carefull, the speedo cable is still attached. once you pull the gauge cluster out some, reach your hand behind it and unclip the speedo cable. if you dont need to salvage the speedo cable then just cut the speedo cable under the hood and pull the cluster out.

also the steering column step that i mentioned in the second post applies to the first post also. but im sure common sense would have kicked in once you started.
