hey what would u think of 2 jl w7 13's vs 4 12" alpine r's in a camaro i have the 4 type r's but the problem lies in the amoutn of space requierd for the box( u alreeady know were this box is going) same place the alumapros were, as it is now the alpine box each chamber is smaller then recomended could make them the rright size but i already have the seats as far foward as i can go to sit comfortably.Or i could stick 2 alpipnes in the hatch area but thats were my 2 extra batts were gonna go. Were as going with the 2 jl's i can build a nice porrted box with plenty of room.and still have plenty of room for the extra batterys and amps/etc, this is going to be a compettion car, on anothe rnote the alipne box etends past the rear of the doors, which would put me in another class, harder class, the jl box wouldnt
ps btw prolyl gonna run the jl 1/1000 amps or gonna run some cadence class d bridgeable amps

MODEL ZRS-8
CLASS-D MONO BLOCK
4 Ohm Competition Rating 150 Watts
2 Ohm Power 1500 watts
1 Ohm Power 2500 watts
Frequency Response 10Hz - 500Hz
Signal/Noise Ratio >100db
Damping Factor >500 @ 100 Hz
Minimum THD <0.034%
Channel Separation >70db
Input Voltage 200mV - 9 Volt
5000 Watts @ 2 ohm when bridgedwith a second ZRS-10.
with this amp i could run one with either setup though this amp would prove way to much for the alpines

You're correct in your assumption that the amp would be "too much." That is, if, it was 2,500 watts of pure power. I'm imagining that the amp will function at 1 ohm, but for only a limited time. It may put out that many watts but it will be at the expense of your alternator and battery. I would recommend sticking with a name brand, but if you're stuck with this amp...go with the JL's. It'll put you in one of the bottom classes and guarantee you a win.
Plus, if the Type R's are dual 2 ohm, I'll buy two of them off you. :)

kurupt cadence is brand name and there amps are rated very low at 4 ohms i found a 1,600 watt amp at 1 ohm rated at 50 watts @ 4 ohms, all these amps are designed to be run into 1 ohm i used to run cadence shit back in the day there stuff is wicked so 2 of these would put me in the 0-100 watt class and id have 1,100 watts rms and 1600 peak per w7 , which is about the critical power range for a w7 13(w7 13's can be pushed at 2,000-2,200 for short periods of time without blowing mainly long enough for a spl comp)

I know cadence is a brand name dude, I was saying major brand name. Alpine, MTX, PPI, etc. You know I'm biased. :)
Sounds like you've got a game plan man. As always, post your DB score and tell us how it went.
Oh yeah, for the w7's, I'd go with a sealed box, minimal amount of airspace that they require.

yeah but ported = better for spl, also more air gets to the magnet structure allows for better cooling
wont be posting anything till spring time, since there are no comps around here till about late march

Port only owns for SPL if you're going with a larger than recommended box. If you're going with the bare minimum then you'll need a sealed box.
From what you said, you need to conserve space right? You should be going with the smallest box you can get away with and keep it sealed. Honestly, the amount of cooling that happens with a ported box VS a non ported box is very, very minimal.

:werd: Go for it then man. Like I said, depending on how much you want (were they dual 2 ohm or not?) for 2 subs I'll buy 'em. :)
