ok im trying to convert an 86 2.8 maro, to a serpentine set up from a 91/92 3.1 car.

first question... will it work? i just wanna make sure everything will bolt up, gm is know for changing little shit around. i just wanna confirm if it will work or not.

next, emissions, a/c, alternator. all of theses have different connectors/ hook ups.

the electircal for the alternator and the plugs for the a/c shouldnt be hard, just cut the 91 plugs off and splice them into the 86 wiring harness.

but how will the emmissions hook up? do i need emmissios for the car to run effieceintly, i.e. good gas mileage. if the car will run the same with out emmissions then let me know how to get rid of them.

i pulled all of the accesories, alt, ps pump, a/c comp, emissions pump, water pump, the crank pulley, and all of the mounting brakets and bolts. any thing else i need?

alright v6 gurus, give me some input. let me know if its just a straight forward job like i think it is, or if their is more to it.

Take the emmisions equip and trash it, plug any vaccuum holes, and bolt the new shit up. It'll work fine. As for connections (electrical and fluid) just use the non-broken ones, like if you fuck up a power steering hose, use the other style.

What is it you're thinking you're going to have trouble with?

im just parinoid, in the back of my head i know i can trash the emissions and it will allwork fine, but then ive never worked with swapping things on the 60* v6's. i just like to make 100% sure and have no doubt. im wierd.

but thanks.

fyi, the water pumps dont match, you have to use the older style one with the serp pulley.

and the heater core hoses have to be serverly rerouted. oh ya their is more to come....

Make sure the water pump is going to turn the right way with a serpintine belt.

You left off the air pump, right?

I'm doing this soon too. Well, mine's an 85 car getting an 89 2.8 motor and belt setup. I've got all the accessories and cut off the wiring harness....

yep, the air pump is sittin in the garage. it was a pain in the ass at times but overall not that difficult.

if you need any more pictures just let me know.
