I have this 89 convetible and the rear speakers aren't hooked up because the dude that sold me the car was in the middle of wiring up an amp to two 10's in the back. As it stands, I have an amp in there with no speakers, but an empty box, plus i took apart the rear panels to see what kind of speakers i had in the rear side panels and it has these shitty ass mickey-moused 4x6's that aren't even wired up. Just wanted some opinions: Should i just say fuck it and finish wiring up two 10's in the back and leave the rear side panel speakers off, or should i dump the amp and wire up some new speakers in the panels? MOST IMPORTANTLY I want to know from someone who has or had a convertible what size speakers normally came in that little compartment there cuz these already seem kinda cramped and I wanted to know if 6x9's would fit. Thanks!

You're not going to get any kind of decent mid range sound out of a pair of 10's. I don't see why a pair of 6x9's that are standard in every other camaro/trans am won't fit in the sail panels, but personally I've never been in a convertible. Read the sticky's at the top of the page for stereo advice and what to install instead of the factory crap. Your 10's will sound nice (what brand are they?) in a sealed box pointed back towards your trunk. You need to bounce the subs off the trunk because of a lack of a proper roof to reverb. off of.

If the 6x9's are a tight squeeze, PM george (owner of the board) and ask him what he's done to his 'vert.
