speedometer

I just got a 86 berlinetta a few weeks ago and after installing a new digital cluster (old one dosent work) the speedometer now tells speed in reverse and says 0 when i go forward. anyone have any ideas on what is causeing this?

ok update on this problem that maybe someone could help me on now, the speedometer quit working all togther so does anybody know where the speedometer cable is on an 86 berlinetta or if it even is a cable speedometer at all, all i can find when i look is what looks like a sensor so if anyone has an idea of what could be wrong the let me know

On mine it is a wire that runs down to the tranny. Pull it off and clean it up. Grease may have gotten in it. Also check the leads for rust. The signal sender in the tranny may be shot also. I have 3-4 digital gauges. I had to take them apart to build one that worked. You may take your old one apart. On the 3rd board I found a burned area. Swapped the board and it has worked for 4 years now. Also check your computer. The digital dash plugs into it. I had to replace mine at 250000 miles. All my lights failed. (there is two computers in the berlinetta, one light box and one engine controls).
