I have a 92 camaro tbi 305 and wanting to do the open element install like I read on thirdgen.org. Besides the drop base touching the coil wires, is there anything else I should be concerned with installing this thing? Anyone have any problems doing this? Any tips appreciated, I am by far no car expert so I decided to register to get much needed info because I am partial to my car working properly.

Shouldn't hurt anything, just remeber that a vehicle like cooler air to be drawn in the engine, so an open element isn't always the best mod for a stock engine. The amount of air flow you gain is usually negated by the fact that it is hot, unless you have other engine mods and the engine needs more air. It's not going to hurt anything though, the coil wires shouldn't be that much in the way.

Yeah I've heard that before. I'm also thinking about finding a dual snorkel element and trying to fab it to fit. I may just go that route, thanks.

Ok I don't know if this is going to be any better or worse than the open element but I came up with this idea and I'm just gonna see how it does. Im putting a picture up but this is the first time I've posted a pic so hopefully it goes.

what would be real cool is if you could get a third one to match the one of the drivers side. that would be awesome. ill have to keep this in mind for taras car.

Ha, that would be the first 3rd gen tri-snorkel air cleaner. I'd like to see that if you do it!

Hmmm experimentation 101 car, I think mine has qualified for that! After I get done it will probably look like something that came out of Monster Garage.
